Apple presented two new iPads: iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3. On sale in Italy from 24 October from 399 euros.

As expected, Apple presented two new iPads at the keynote on October 16th: iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3, both of which can already be pre-ordered in Italy and on sale next week, from October 24th.

Apple iPad Air 2 is the thinnest tablet in the world, measuring just 6.1mm and is 18% thinner than its predecessor. iPad Air 2 has new sensors and 3 billion transistors. It is powered by the new A8X processor, an updated version of the A8 that powers the iPhone 6, which is 40% faster than the previous A7X. The M8 co-processor is not missing. The TouchID fingerprint reader has also been added, with support for the new Apple Pay service for mobile payments. The strong point of the tablet is the display, which reflects even less than the first model, 56%. The rear camera is 8 megapixels and allows the creation of videos in Full HD at maximum resolution 1080p at 30fps with optical image stabilization. The lens has an f2.4 aperture. The front camera is also brighter, with an aperture of up to f2.2 and a resolution of 1.2 megapixels. The WiFi connection is 2.8 times faster than the previous Air, with 866 Mbps, while the LTE connection in the "cellular" model can reach 15 Mbps.

Apple iPad mini 3 is instead a small update of the previous model. The Mini 3 has a new retina display, a 5 megapixel rear camera that records video in HD, FaceTime in HD and the TouchID fingerprint reader has been added, with support for the new Apple Pay service for mobile payments. The screen maintains the same size and resolution – 7.9 inches and resolution of 1,536 x 2,048 pixels. iPad mini 3 is still powered by the A7 chip with 64-bit architecture. The camera department is identical to that of the iPad mini Retina Display – a 5-megapixel iSight camera on the back and a FaceTime HD camera on the front. The same goes for connectivity, nothing new: 4 LTE or Wi-Fi 802.11ac.

The new products are already on pre-order but will actually be on sale from October 24th in Italy . The new Gold color is also available for both. For our country, the launch prices of the iPad Air 2 start from 499 euros for the 16GB Wi-Fi model, 599 euros for 64GB of memory and 699 euros for the 128GB model. 619 euros, 719 euros and 819 euros respectively are the prices for the 'Cellular' models with also support for the LTE mobile network.
