Apple will unveil the new iPads on October 16th

It's official: Apple will hold a new event on October 16, almost certainly dedicated to the presentation of the new iPads, the new updated iMac lineup and the launch of OS

The next Apple event will be held on October 16th, it's now official after the company sent out invitations to the press. The event is scheduled to be held at Apple's Town Hall auditorium on the Infinite Loop Campus in Cupertino, California. The event will start at 10:00 local time, which will be 7pm in Italy.

Thinner, the glass coating and the Retina display combined in a single element, better cameras and the Touch ID system with fingerprint reader and Apple Pay payment system via NFC will be the features of the two new iPads that Apple expects will present next October 16th, next week.

I wrote about two tablets, because the new iPad Air 2 with a 9.7-inch diagonal and the smaller iPad Mini 3 with a 7.9-inch diagonal are expected. Both with the same specs, just one bigger than the other. Both will, according to forecasts, also have Apple's A8 chip with RAM that should increase from 1GB to 2GB.

As for the iPad Air 2, the new version of the tablet is expected to be 0.5 mm thinner than the previous model, the iPad Air. iPad Air 2 will probably be available in three colors: black, silver and gold, the latter being now highly sought after. According to rumors on the web, the front and rear cameras will be more powerful, the first will be FaceTime HD, the second will have an 8 Megapixel sensor (compared to the 5 Mpx of the current model).

It is unlikely that Apple will present an iPad Maxi, with a 12.9-inch screen, but even if the tablet is announced it will not be available before 2015 because Apple's suppliers are currently busy producing the iPhone 6 Plus, whose demand exceeded Apple's forecasts.
