Apple presented the new 27" iMac with Retina 5K display, the screen with the highest resolution in the world and 14.7 million pixels.

Last week at its event where it presented the new iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3, Apple also presented the new 27" iMac with Retina 5K display, the screen with the highest resolution in the world and 14.7 million pixels. With this 5k resolution, Apple promises that on the display of its new 27'' iMac, text appears sharper than ever, videos are incredibly realistic and photos show even more details.

With a resolution of 5120×2880, the iMac with Retina 5K display has four times more pixels than the standard 27-inch iMac and 67 percent more pixels than a 4K display. The iMac with Retina 5K display uses an oxide-TFT panel to deliver perfect screen brightness, from corner to corner. A single, powerful Apple-designed timing controller (TCON) with four times the bandwidth drives all 14.7 million pixels.

iMac with Retina 5K display also uses highly efficient LEDs and organic passivation to improve image quality and reduce power consumption by 30 percent, while using four times more pixels at the same brightness. To improve contrast, the iMac with Retina 5K display uses a new photographic alignment process and compensation layer to deliver blacker blacks and more vibrant colors from every viewing angle.

iMac with Retina 5K display includes a 3.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.9GHz, and can be configured with a 4GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 4 ,4GHz.

All new iMacs with Retina 5K displays have an AMD Radeon R9 M290X graphics processor and can be configured with an AMD Radeon R9 M295X graphics processor, for up to 3.5 teraflops of processing power.

The new iMac can be configured with up to 32GB of memory, a 3TB Fusion Drive, or an ultra-fast PCIe flash drive of up to 1TB. Additionally, the device features two Thunderbolt 2 ports, each capable of up to 20Gbps, double the bandwidth of the previous generation.

All new Macs come standard with OS

iMac with Retina 5K display is available to ship today with a 3.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.9GHz, AMD Radeon R9 M290X graphics, and a 1TB Fusion Drive for a recommended retail price of $2,629 . The iMac with Retina 5K display can be ordered from the Apple Online Store, Apple Retail Stores and some Apple Authorized Resellers.
